HEAT Through to Third Round of County Cup
The HEAT were all fired up for this game and took an early lead thanks to some great quick baskets from Stacey Dougherty. HEAT managed to hit the defensive boards well, which helped to stop East Durham from scoring with the opportunities they had. HEAT ended the quarter well with some good moves from Jess Coates. The quarter ended 11-18 as HEAT continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter, with some quick fast breaks from Laura Howe and good baskets from Jaz Bradley. HEAT dominated this quarter stopping their opposition from scoring the majority of their baskets thanks to some great team play that lead to more quick, easy baskets for HEAT to convert.
In the third quarter Sharon Weatherill’s shooting was on form as HEAT continued dominating on offence. HEAT continued to apply pressure on defence shutting their opponents out. The game’s MVP Rachel Campbell racked up consecutive baskets as HEAT continued to take the game to East Durham.
In the final quarter, HEAT took some of the pressure off East Durham and started to run down the clock more. Some good baskets from Pam Fisher saw HEAT end the game on a high. Some great performances from Hazel Robinson and Rebecca Weatherill saw HEAT win the match comfortably.
