Hartlepool HEAT 31 vs Sonics 66
A Lesson Well Learnt
A bad day at the office for the young Hartlepool outfit and a chance lost to take a scalp against the current league leaders.
HEAT started very slowly while Sonics cruised to the basket taking a 16-5 lead with only Dylan Fisher and Cameron Battman getting on the score sheet for HEAT.
HEAT played much better in the second quarter and with a fantastic 5-minute spell they pressed the visitors as Chris Bentley and Paul Robson got steals and put backs to pull themselves right back in to the game at 17-20.
Sonics had to call a time-out as they struggled to cope with the Hartlepool’s speed and pressure and reset themselves after the time out and the momentum swung back their way as they finished the quarter stronger.
The second half was one to forget for the new team who could only manage 4-points in the whole of the third as lay-ups and shots were missed aided by turnovers allowed Sonics to score at will, and this continued throughout the fourth although HEAT did show signs of improvement with a man-man defence which slowed Sonics free scoring down.
The experienced Sonics players took a comfortable win while the Hartlepool team will have learned a lot from this game.
Scorers: Dylan Fisher 9, Paul Robson 8.
