Hartlepool HEAT 63 vs CJ Rams 75
Rams Pack to much Punch for HEAT
Hartlepool HEAT’s newest team debuted against CJ Rams, once of Hartlepool themselves back when they were called Kestrels.
A 4-2 start had the HEAT bench on their feet as their team took a quick lead. Rams hit back with a 13-2 run and pushed in front. Some small errors on defence by the HEAT gave Rams some easy baskets and they added to their score to take the first quarter 12-27.
Cameron Battman was introduced into the game and made an immediate impact helping Dylan Fisher who was having an outstanding game.
The Hartlepool side put a few small runs of together including a fantastic 11-3 spell and snatched the second quarter 18-14.
At half time the Rams still held the lead though at 41-30.
As the game went on the young Hartlepool side showed promising signs throughout. Paul Robson who never stopped running and rebounding all game added another basket to his 8 personal in the 3rd and again it was Dylan Fisher who at 14 years old didn’t seem fazed about playing in a senior men’s league as he coasted to the basket through defenders time and time again.
The Rams started the 4th very strong and the comeback that HEAT had on the cards went off the boil for a while as Hartlepool boy Paul McDonald did the damage for the visitors as a mix up in communication at the back of the zone gave him acres of space to score in succession.
Robinson called a time out and made the HEAT pick up man-man defence. It worked in spells and Battman and Adam Musgrave combined well for the home side to keep the score respectable. The Rams after such good starts in the 1st and 4th quarters held on to their lead and took the win back to Stockton.
A good display from the newly formed Hartlepool team who can take a lot of positives from their first competitive game.
Scorers: Dylan Fisher 22, Adam
Musgrave 8, Paul Robson 8.
