Durham Saints 71 - Hartlepool HEAT 86

HEAT Do Double Over Durham

HEAT picked up from where they left off in their last home game against Durham Saints a fortnight ago, racing to a 26-12 lead in the first quarter thanks to great work from Joe Davison and the ever-improving Antony Reed.

The 14-point cushion allowed HEAT to run the bench in the second quarter, which meant Saints edged what proved to be a close quarter but HEAT maintained their lead 31 – 42 at half time due to the great start.

HEAT came out in the third firing on all cylinders, going to work in first few minutes and finishing the quarter strongly with a flurry of baskets to pull further ahead at 74-53 going into the final quarter.

In the final quarter HEAT again took their foot off the gas allowing Saints to pull back. A strong finish though from Davison and Cameron Battman made sure HEAT ran out winners at the final whistle.

Joe Davison was nominated as the games MVP (Most Valuable Player) for yet another game for an outstanding display and is already a very strong contender for the Division MVP although there’s still a long way to go.

Davison (at 20) is yet another young local player who has developed and benefited massively as a young player coming through the HEAT ranks and is known for his high scoring intensity plays as well as bringing energy and passion to the games while playing for Hartlepool HEAT.

Scorers: Joe Davison 24, Anthony Reed 14, Stephen Purdy 14, Paul Atkinson 10
