HEAT vs Tigers
58-45
Competition:
Tired Tigers Lose To League Leaders
The first quarter was probably the better of the four with R.Brown opening the scoring for Tigers but Colmer soon responded with a lay-up for HEAT. Tigers moved the ball well and looked for Woolams inside who didn’t disappoint with 8-points while HEAT found it tough to break down the Tigers zone and relied on Colmers outside shooting and Ord’s strong drives and making two crucial free throws in the last seconds to cut Tigers advantage to 1-point.
Tigers were quick to attack in the second and a foul by Errington put Woolams on the line. He makes one, misses one giving Tigers a 2-point lead. HEAT reply with a 3 by Robinson and the lead swings HEATS way, 18-17 but Woolams stops a gap opening up with 2 quick baskets giving the lead back to Tigers 21-18. HEAT call a time-out. A good spell from HEAT followed with great performances from Ord, Errington and Thomas and with a 3 from Colmer in the last minute, HEAT outscore Tigers 18-6 and go into half time leading 36-27.
The 3rd quarter was very physical and scrappy and it showed in the score, a low of 12-8 to HEAT. Again it was Woolams who Tigers looked to while it was Ord who helped HEAT steer through tough Tigers defence assisted well by Thomas.
The 4th was pretty much the same. Both teams managed only 10-points but HEAT had a 13-point lead and were always in control even though Tigers kept biting away at the lead. Missed free throws for Tigers could have cut the deficit a little but fatigue had set in after playing a full game with only 5 players. Woolams was excellent for Tigers as always and top scored with 21.
