Heat Men vs Richmond Vikings
103-44
Competition:
Heat Sea Off Vikings
Heat welcomed Richmond Vikings for their fourth Teesside League Game and only Richmond’s third.
Heat won the tip but Vikings managed to steal the ball and score first with Richardson, Heat then replied with 11 points unanswered with good outside shooting from McKenzie and Turner and inside play from Errington and Robinson. Vikings then clawed their way back with excellent shooting from Hall and Richardson and a tough Defence that Heat couldn’t break down. Game tied 11-11.
Step up Mckenzie with a long 3 and supported by good plays from Turner and Thomas Heat see out the quarter 26-19.
Vikings start the 2nd well and trade baskets with Heat through Oxley and Millward but after the sixth minute they failed to score again until the ninth while Heat added 14 through excellent team work and good defence including 5 blocks from Errington.
Half Time 47-29
Heat started the 3rd where they left off while Vikings chose to rest their starting five and give their young players a chance to prove their worth and they did. Unfortunately Vikings couldn’t convert many baskets but they played tough Defence and worked hard for each other while Heat continued to move the ball and take advantage of the lack of experience on court with Donnison and Thomas under the boards and McKenzie and Carless scoring from range Heat win the quarter 31-5.
Vikings changed back to their original five for the last 10 but the game was well out of reach and with McKenzie and Donnison combining for 15 points in the first five minutes made sure Heat finished strong.
An excellent game of basketball played in good spirits with good work play from both teams.
