Details

Another hard fought game for the newly developed HEAT.

The game was delayed due to only one referee turning up and nearly didn’t happen at all but Pam stepped in at the last minute so both teams could play what turned out to be an excellent game of basketball.

With a starting five of Robinson, Errington, Colmer, Thomas and McKenzie the Heat take to the court in an all new look blue kit, Errington wins the tip and McKenzie converts quickly, Heat take the lead.

Barrow then brings East Durham into the game and into the lead with 8 straight personal points helped out by Thorne giving East Durham16-7 lead.

Heat then hit back with Thomas, McKenzie and Robinson but still trailed at the end of the 1st 23-15.

East Durham started the 2nd where they left off, hitting more outside shots this time though it was Dank and then Barrow again then the Heat started to warm up and Turner and Robinson dropped two long 3’s followed by inside play from Donnison and Thomas and Excellent Defence from Colmer. Heat moved the ball well and stopped East Durham from scoring and with one minute left on the clock Heat were up 40-37.

Hope then drives the lane for East Durham and draws the foul from Donnison he goes to the line and drops them both Heat Lead 40-39. Lynch then adds another quick basket for East Durham under the boards and with seconds left Dank for East Durham holds the ball for what seems to be longer than the table call, as the whistle goes he shoots it drops, it counts.

Heat 40 - East Durham - 43

East Durham starts the 3rd the strongest and with six quick points to Heat’s two they pull away 49-42. Heat hit back with Turner and Robinson as they start to drop shots again supported by inside baskets from Donnison, Colmer and McKenzie but East Durham trade basket for basket through Barrow to keep their lead going into the 4th.

At the end of the 3rd East Durham lead 72-60 due to the early unanswered baskets in the 1st two minutes.

East Durham hit 10 points before Heat reply through Donnison, having already being 12 down at the beginning of the 4th they now found themselves 20 down with 4 minutes left to play. Colmer and McKenzie provided the points in the last minutes but it wasn’t enough and East Durham takes the win.

An Excellent game played in good spirits, Special thanks to Pam for Refereeing at such short notice.
