Hartlepool Heat finally made their home court debut against an experienced East Durham side and managed to take the points after winning three out four quarters.
Heat wearing their Red jerseys started with Parker, Hitchings, Boyd, Fisher and Horsley against an East Durham side of Crawford, Car, Patterson, Dyos and Green.
East Durham were quickest off the mark with Dyos and Crawford and it wasn’t until the 3rd minute that Boyd brought Heat into the game supported strongly by Fishers outside shooting and strong drives to the basket from Horsley. Heat finishes the quarter strong 14-9.
Both teams trade baskets in the 2nd with Parker and Connor for Heat and Davison and Patterson for East Durham before East Durham go on a six point run leaving Heat unable to score for three minutes and pulling themselves within one point of Heats lead. Hitchings steps up for Heat and makes a long 3 that gives Heat the edge until Patterson claws East Durham back within three points. Boyd and Fisher reply by combining well with good shooting and strong lay-ups to make sure Heat lead at Half-Time 32-23.
Boyd and Fisher continued where they left off with excellent Defence and strong drives this time they were supported well by Hitchings, but East Durham were matching them basket for basket and through a good spell of play, Patterson, Green and Crawford made sure East Durham won this quarter 19-16 and only trailed by four.
Going into the 4th Heat lead 48-42 and started strong with Fenny and Horsley while East Durham could only manage 2/4 Free-Throws giving Heat an eight Point lead before Parker added to that with a fast break and a 3 while Boyd and Fisher working well again to give Heat the win.
