Hartlepool is HOT for Awards!
Outstanding Club Of The Year!
Hartlepool HEAT Basketball Club is ecstatic to announce they have won the Hartlepool Sports Council’s ‘Outstanding Club Of The Year Award’ and ‘Coach Of The Year Award’ via HEAT Head Coach Anthony Robinson. The Club were delighted to just be nominated but couldn’t believe it when they walked away with both awards on the night. The club received ‘Outstanding Club Of The Year’ for their endless efforts of promoting and developing basketball across Hartlepool and the Tees Valley and their on-going junior development. Along with the Clubmark award and 3-star accreditation we have achieved from England Basketball and Sport England and also the Durham County Basketball Association Titles we have won this is just the icing on the cake said Robinson.
We know we’ve started making waves within the basketball community and rightly so we are recognised for the work we do, but for the people of Hartlepool to now recognise what we are doing it’s a really good feeling. Three years ago Basketball was a dwindling sport in Hartlepool until HEAT came along and now there is a real feel good factor surrounding the sport. The Club already have plans to increase participation numbers again for next season as they prepare to enter a third senior men’s team which will allow junior members to come through the system and in to a competitive league should they choose.
The Club are honoured to receive both awards especially on an evening where maybe more renowned sports clubs were up for numerous awards. This goes to show that Basketball is now a recognised sport by the people of Hartlepool and the club would like to thank everyone involved who make Hartlepool HEAT the club it is – Thank- You.
