HEAT a 4 Star England Basketball Club

Hartlepool HEAT Basketball Club is celebrating today after the successful re-validation of their Clubmark status but that is just the tip of the iceberg for the Hartlepool side as the basketball club have also recently been accredited as an England Basketball 4-star club from a possible 5-star.

This means that Hartlepool HEAT is currently the only basketball Club with Clubmark and England Basketball 4-star accreditation not only in Teesside but also the whole of the North East.

This is a huge achievement for the Hartlepool Sporting Association Club that only celebrated their 4th year in January, as nation wide there is only 15 basketball clubs to hold such an accolade with the Hartlepool outfit the most recent.

Impressive, Improving, -Young HEAT Win Again

Hartlepool HEAT Division 3 Men's Team have picked up their third win in four outings with their latest win coming against an experienced Houghtonians side. The Hartlepool side is made up mainly of 16-18 year olds with a couple of senior players who are also relatively new to the game, so the team in whole is a development squad.

The young side were baptised in fire back in September as the season started and they failed to pick up a win in 2009 but with the second half of the season is in full swing the team has turned its fortunes right round with three very convincing wins. Their only loss was in the form of run away league leaders, Sonics. Credit to the Hartlepool outfit though as the loss came by the narrowest margin of 1-point in a game the team could well have won themselves.

The team now have three league games remaining and will look to finish the season strong and in the highest position possible.

Some of the team will also have the youth games to look forward to where they will represent Hartlepool against the other local boroughs including Stockton, Middlesbrough and Darlington to name a few. Players will be ages 16-19 year old and will play in a knock out basketball tournament and the winners crowned Youth Games Champions.

If that isn't enough for the team they also get one more crack the Sonics who look destined to lift the Division 3 title. The two teams will meet in a mouth watering league cup semi final clash at Manor College of Technology on Friday 19th March.

The HEAT is on!

Hartlepool’s youngest ever Basketball team will take to the court this Saturday for their first ever national league match against two very established basketball clubs. The team, Hartlepool HEAT U13 Boy’s have been together for just over a year now host two teams in York Vikings and Leeds Tigers.

The Hartlepool side are unsure of the quality of their opponents as both York and Leeds have had junior programmes running more than twice as long as HEAT has even existed, so to be competing at this level is already a success story for the team. The team is made up of boys from Dyke House Sports and Technology College, English Martyrs 6th form college and Manor College of Technology.

The Boy’s will play two games per match day in a triangle system that will see the club host a number of teams including the highly successful professional basketball team, The Newcastle Eagles.

The two games against Leeds and York will take place at The Headland Sportshall, The Headland and tipp off will be 12pm on Saturday 17th October.

The club are urging for as many young people interested in basketball and their parents to come along and watch and support their local team.
